New! Babies and bears have a lot in common. They're both cute and cuddly, they both like to color and play peek-a-boo, and they both eat porridge and dress up for Halloween. But there is a very important thing to understand . . . babies are NOT bears!

It Started with a Book Ban
by Linda Ravin Lodding (Author), Aaron Cushley (Illustrator)

When a book gets banned, what comes next?

On library day, Edwin makes a beeline for his favorite section, which is usually packed with exciting books about spaceships and distant planets. But when he gets there, he finds out that all books about outer space have been banned―it turns out some people want to keep kids from daydreaming about rocketing off into the stars. Soon, the town starts banning all kinds of other things, from singing birds to the color green. As the town grows more and more miserable with each new ban, it's up to Edwin and his friends to find a solution.

School visits
Where do authors get their ideas? How do they turn them into books? How do you get a book published? I love sharing my journey from story idea to publication with students of all ages and want to inspire them to write their own stories!
I present to students in grades K – 9 as well as to educators, librarians and families at family literacy events. My school visits are designed to work with your school’s curriculum and I can adapt my presentations to meet your school’s needs.
